And so I begin my Thanksgiving festivities by discussing the Avengers

Hello there, everyone! So Thanksgiving is tomorrow, and for the first time since high school, I will get to celebrate this holiday with immediate family members. For my 4 years of college, I had some great Thanksgiving experiences: a very memorable week-long stay at a convent (think: Maria Von Trapp at the convent in The Sound of Music. It was hilarious), a super awesome stay with a few friends at their grandparents' house, and some peaceful, relaxing celebrations with my husband in our apartment. I have to confess, though, I feel quite grown up because this year, we are visiting my immediate and bringing food. We're excited, but it's also weirding me out-I feel so adult now. Bringing food to a relative's house for a holiday just seems like a very adult thing to do. Since I need to go turn a monstrous bucket of dough into dinner rolls, I can't really greet y'all with a thought-out blog post. (I have a few of those in the works, which will make an appearance sometime) Instead, during this time of family, friends, and thankfulness, can we just pause and think about the Avengers?

As many of you are probably aware, the first trailer for Captain America: Civil War is out! (If I truly wrote out my reaction, I think my laptop screen would explode from all the fangirling, screaming, and utter joy haha) If you have not been blessed to watch this trailer yet, or you want to watch it again (admit it: you probably need to watch it again because it's so good!), then here ya go:

I also invite you to saunter over to The Catholic Geeks and read Matthew Bowman's awesome, short reflection about this trailer.

I think Marvel was clever in releasing this trailer right before Thanksgiving. I mean, while Americans are celebrating family and friend togetherness, we see a trailer showing friends being ripped apart and bonds destroyed. Oh, it tears at the heartstrings. Well played, Marvel, well played.

I hope that you all have a blessed and enjoyable Thanksgiving! Don't forget to head to Mass or stop and pray, thanking God for all of His blessings!

  1. AVENGERS YES. I got so excited when I saw the title of this! Aghhh when I saw the trailer for the first time a few days ago I seriously had to watch it like four times. I immediately texted Andy and was like "the Civil War trailer just f'ed me up..." When Tony said "so was I" in response to Cap's comment about Bucky being his friend... too many feels. Too many. Can't wait to go read that post on The Catholic Geeks now! Hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving :).

    1. Yeah, I so know what you mean! I watched it a couple more times after I wrote this post. I honestly don't know how I will be able to wait for the movie to come out; I feel like it will be one big emotion-fest, but it will also probably be amazing :)
